WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and it has the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) It has the power to transform lives (Romans 1:16-17)
Man is by nature and by choice a sinner. (Psalm 51:5; Genesis 3; Romans 3:23)
There is one and only one living and true God. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being. (Matthew 28:19)
Jesus Christ is God, born of a virgin, sinless, died on the cross for our sin, was buried and physically rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven where he sits at God right hand until he returns for his bride (the church). (John 1:1; Matthew 1:18,23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; I Corinthians 15:3-8; Acts 1:9,11; John 14:3)
The Holy Spirit leads, seals, and guides us. (John 14:26; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:16-25)
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man and is offered freely to all who will accept it. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:24; John 1:12) Salvation is only obtained through Christ’s blood that was shed on the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14; Titus 3:4-7; John 14:6)
Salvation is eternally secure for the believer in Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:38-39; John 10:27-28)
The church is the body of Christ, which is composed of all believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. (I Corinthians 12:12-13)
Believer’s are equipped with spiritual gifts that are to be used to build up the body of Christ. (Romans 12:3-8)
At the end, Jesus Christ will return personally (Matthew 24:30), the dead will be raised and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to hell. The righteous will be rewarded and will live in heaven with the Lord forever. (John 5:28-29)
Immersion in water of a professed believer is biblical baptism (Acts 8:36-39) and is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:1-4)
OUR VALUES
What does a maturing follower of Christ look like?
We have identified seven core values from scripture that help answer this question. It is these seven practices that determine what we teach and the programming that we offer at Crossroads.
Passionately Committed to Christ- Of the seven practices listed here, this is the most important. Being passionately committed to Christ means that He is above all other things in my life. In fact, He has influence on everything that I do in life.
- “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37
Biblically Measured- The Word of God has the power to transform our lives only as much as we allow it to have authority. Being Biblically measured is a commitment to grow in my personal relationship with Jesus through study of His Word.
- “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
Morally Pure- We live in a culture that has become increasingly tolerant to sin. Being morally pure is a commitment to Spirit-led living and moral purity in every area of life.
- “So I say live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Galatians 5:16
Family Faithful- God designed marriage to be a picture of his relationship with the church. Husbands are to love their wives the same way that Christ loved the church by giving His life for her. Wives are to live in submission and respect for their husbands. The family is the place where we live out God’s commands and impress them on our children. Being family faithful is a commitment to making your marriage and family a priority.
- “Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” Ephesians 5:25
- “Wives submit to your husbands as to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:22
- “Love the Lord with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7
Financially Generous- Everything that we have comes from God, and it is all His. Being financially generous means honoring God with your wealth by giving to others who are in need as well as giving to the ministry of the local church.
- “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” Proverbs 3:9
Evangelistically Bold- God calls us to boldly declare the good news of the gospel of Jesus with others. Being evangelistically bold is a commitment to sharing Christ with my co-workers, friends, neighbors, and maybe even people at my church.
- “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” Romans 1:16
Responsible to my neighbor- It is so easy for us to get focused on ourselves. Being responsible to my neighbor means that I consider their needs and allow God to use me to meet their needs. Of course the question always comes back, “Who is my neighbor?” Your neighbors are the people that you are in contact with. They are the people you work with. They are the people that you live next to. They are the people at your church.
- “This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:38-40
OUR VISION
We dream of a church…*
…where people find real help, discover real answers, and experience real change; where destructive lifestyles, habits, addictions and compulsions are jettisoned: where wasted lives are retrieved and new beginnings are launched.
…where God’s Word is exalted in authority, studied with expectation, taught with relevance, heard with anticipation, and obeyed with passion.
…where people are free to attempt great things for God: where people have nothing to prove and therefore nothing to lose: where all kinds of people serve God in diverse ways with mutual love, encouragement, respect and unity.
…where people’s hearts beat for God’s work around the world; where impact is made on lives across the street and across the ocean.
…where children and youth are nurtured in the faith; where they are made strong in their ability to serve the Lord and stand for Him in a godless culture.
…where worship is a significant event which encourages believers and transforms them into the triumphant army of God.
…where the issues of our culture are seriously addressed; where the community expects to find a viewpoint both practical and godly, a viewpoint that must be taken seriously.
…where the heart beat of every person is for outreach and inclusion, not for complacency and exclusion.

OUR AFFILIATION
Crossroads Community Church began groundwork in the spring of 2003 with Lead Pastor, Troy Fiscella, conducting a door-to-door opinion poll assessing community needs. “Our desire is to reach young adults and young families who are not currently attending a Bible-believing church and develop a new church that will help meet their needs,” says Pastor Troy.
Then in an effort to serve and get better acquainted with our new community, the church leadership, with the help of mission teams, local residents and our sponsor church, Grace West of West Des Moines, completed a variety of community projects, involved ourselves in community organizations, surveyed community leaders, organized community events and activities and prayed for approximately 1,250 homes and businesses. Grimes is sometimes described as a commuter community; Crossroads intends to give Grimes residents another opportunity to connect with neighbors by worshipping and serving locally rather than driving somewhere else.
The church has doctrinal and mission ties to the Southern Baptist Convention and promotes itself as a “community church,” welcoming people of all denominational backgrounds. Our vision is to make a difference in the community of Grimes and beyond by creating an authentic and impacting ministry that will give us the opportunity to cross paths with those with whom we can share the truth of Jesus Christ.
